Learning how to advocate for yourself during a health crisis will help you get the skills you need to advocate for yourself in all areas of your life. But what does it really mean to be your own advocate? How does one get the right care? It all starts with listening to your gut, and understanding what you want and need so that you can ask for it. Then getting educated, organized, and enlisting support.

In this webinar, breast cancer recovery advocate, Katie Rampen ‘90 will use her own lessons learned from two breast cancer journeys to offer tips on how to navigate a diagnosis and come out the other side not only healthier, but also empowered and transformed.

Katie Rampen ’90, is a two-time breast cancer “thriver,” mother and breast cancer recovery advocate, helping women navigate a breast cancer diagnosis, advocate for themselves and avoid recurrence.

Her mission is to enlighten, empower and encourage women to lead a healthy life free from disease.

In 2012, Rampen was diagnosed with breast cancer. She trusted the medical establishment to cure her and teach her how to prevent a recurrence. After realizing her doctors did not have the answers she sought, Rampen spent the next 6 years researching cancer and health in general. She discovered a lot of eye-opening, little-known information that made her realize we each need - herself included - to start taking greater responsibility for our health, thus she founded Katie's Healthy Families and became a wellness empowerment coach in 2018. Despite having had a double mastectomy, in March of 2020 Rampen was diagnosed with another breast cancer. She then founded Kicking Breast Cancer with Katie to work side by side with women to overcome this disease and prevent it from recurring in the future. Currently she leads a Breast Health Empowerment Membership which helps women accomplish this.
