Ms. Freed strongly believes in the relational power of therapy. Though she conceptualizes a client's situation from a psychodynamic perspective, and favors talk therapy, her treatment techniques stem from evidence-based practices. In addition to pre-marital counseling, Ms. Freed specializes in issues related to high school, college and young adult life. These issues include transitions, stress management and work-life balance. Ms. Freed received her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. While in school, she received clinical training in psychotherapy at the Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4), Misericordia, Heart of Mercy and The Warming House Youth Center. Following graduation, Ms. Freed worked as a staff therapist in the Adult Outpatient Program of C4 until she received her clinical license in 1997. Ms. Freed's interests and experience in counselor training, clinical education and supervision, and professional identity development have led her to serve as a clinical supervisor of practicum students in the counseling program for the past three years. She also has a strong interest in group dynamics, and has held various positions on the consulting staff of the Northwestern Tavistock Group Relations Conference for approximately 20 years.
