Navigating tax liabilities in the context of bankruptcy requires a fundamental understanding of how tax debts interact with bankruptcy proceedings. This course provides tax professionals with a comprehensive overview of the bankruptcy process under the U.S. Code, emphasizing the treatment of tax debts.

Participants will learn when certain tax liabilities can be discharged, how liens may survive bankruptcy, and the role of state-specific exemptions, including homestead protections. By the end of this course, attendees will be equipped to recognize when a client may benefit from consultation with a bankruptcy attorney.

Learning Objectives:
-Identify and differentiate between the various types of bankruptcy under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
-Determine which tax debts may be discharged in bankruptcy and the factors affecting dischargeability, including timing rules and late-filed returns.
