Justice-involved young adults (ages 18–26) represent a high-need population with elevated rates of recidivism, substance use, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Traditional supervision and intervention models often emphasize individual accountability, overlooking the critical role that family and relational systems play in long-term success.
Functional Family Therapy-Adult (FFT-A) is an evidence-based, family-centered model designed to address these gaps. By engaging a broader definition of “family”—including biological relatives, partners, and prosocial supports—FFT-A helps build a stable foundation for behavior change, autonomy, and successful community reintegration.
This webinar will introduce the FFT-A model and its structured phases of engagement, behavior change, and generalization. Participants will learn how integrating family-based approaches with supervision, case management, and life skills development can reduce criminogenic risk factors, improve compliance, and support sustainable outcomes.
Attendees will gain practical strategies to enhance engagement and improve outcomes with justice-involved young adults in community corrections settings.
