The Veterinary Nurse journal is proud to announce its 2025 interactive Summer Seminars series, a lineup of live online CPD accredited educational sessions designed to keep veterinary nurses at the forefront of clinical practice and innovation.
Each seminar features a 20-minute presentation by an expert speaker, followed by an interactive Q&A session that encourages discussion and participant engagement.
This year’s programme builds on popular topics from 2024, such as parasiticide stewardship and nurse-led nutrition clinics, and introduces new subjects, including advanced dermatology care.
Our summer seminars will provide practical, evidence-based insights that veterinary nurses can apply in their daily practice.

Agenda
Beyond the Bowl: Safe and Smart Treat Feeding for Pets - Nicola Lakeman: Feeding food-based rewards is often criticized by veterinary professionals when discussing the animal’s diet. However, the role of food-based rewards, treats, is something that the majority of pet owners undertake and reinforces the bond between the owner and the pet. Being able to make nutritional recommendations that maintain this behaviour, but use the correct type of treats and the volume. We will look at treats that are nutritionally suitable for different conditions and how to calculate the right volume of treats for the size of the animal.
Wound Care Management Top Tips – Amanda Curtis: Boost your confidence in managing skin and wound cases with some practical top tips, we will look at key skills in assessment, treatment, and owner education. Learn evidence-based techniques, from debridement methods to maximising wound dressing selection based on the wound bed and patient factors. We will highlight the key role of veterinary nurses play in wound management and how we can work collaboratively as a veterinary team to improve healing outcomes.
Parasitology – Kelly Huitson: In this webinar Kelly will go through the current guidelines, and how to manage owner expectations and understanding of parasiticide use and overuse, tailoring recommendations according to need.
How to use technology (and AI) to deliver better care - Oli Viner: This talk will discuss ways that technology can be used to improve the quality of care for the patients that we treat and the clients who own them, but also for the teams delivering that care. We'll look at better ways to communicate, as well as to utilise AI and automation to enable vets and nurses to spend more time doing what they do best - delivering hands on clinical care to the pets they treat. We'll cover some risks and opportunities around AI, and how to get the best out of it.
One Injection, One Chat: Flea & Tick Talk Made Easy - Sian Stockford: Coming up one year on from the launch of Bravecto Injectable, and all of those dogs administered the product are still protected against fleas and ticks. No missed doses, no washing off, no loss of efficacy, and best of all, no fleas! Learn about its safety and efficacy profile and how to change the conversation with your pet owners to bring back parasite control into your control.
