By the numbers:
- The U.S. recently exceeded five million solar installations, with the residential sector accounting for 97% of all solar installations in the U.S.
- Solar sales in California fell between 66% and 83% year-over-year following NEM 3.0
- Household power capacity can surpass peak demand by 2035 in a decarbonization scenario
- Residential solar-plus-storage could generate more than 1,500 GW of flexible demand capacity https://pv-magazine-usa.com/2024/07/02/u-s-household-energy-can-wield-15-gw-to-affordably-meet-electricity-demand/

Key takeaways:
- Learn about recent state policy changes that have impacted solar and battery adoption
- Understand how smart devices that manage residential energy usage could reduce capital spending on new substations,
transformers, feeders, and other distribution equipment
- Gain insight into regulatory challenges in boosting distributed energy resources
