A magical mix of visual designer and creative thinker with keen insights on behavior change, Elizabeth brings over a decade of recycling-specific communications experience to The Partnership. As Senior Director Social Change, Behavior and Impact, ElizabethÊbuilds operationally-sound outreach programs and resources to mobilize measurable action.ÊShe has honed her ability to address technical recycling challenges through visual and human-centered design via her work with university recycling programs, the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers, the Southeast Recycling Development Council, RRS, and a variety of brands and retailers. Original, funny and smart, Elizabeth and her family call Asheville, NC home.

An Introduction to Behavior Change
Elizabeth's presentation will do the following:
- Prime the audience to think about their residents differently and how to talk to them in a way that makes sense to them
- Discuss the importance of segmenting audiences
-Bring an academic perspective to this municipal issue, and cite case studies from her own research in the field as well as other experts
- Introduce the topic of trust into the conversation: why is it important, how do you build it, and how it shapes your brand

Julie is the Co-Director of Cascadia's Oakland, CA office, serving in the role with fellow Co-Director Julia Chang Frank. She leads our Bay Area team's public sector zero waste planning and outreach efforts. Julie has over 15 years of zero waste experience, including eight years serving as the City Government Zero Waste Senior Coordinator at the San Francisco Department of Environment where she administered contracts and managed the resource recovery and waste prevention programs for the City's 30,000 employees and over 1,000 facilities.

How Does Your Program Measure Up?
Julie's presentation will do the following:

- explain the importance of measurement as it relates to a community recycling program
- explain the different types of measurement techniques (i.e. a capture rate study vs. a waste characterization study vs. tagging carts vs. a larger view on a community's contamination)
- cite real world examples of communities that have found success utilizing the methods listed above

Recruited Spring of 2018, Andrés brings more than five years of multicultural marketing experience managing cross-cultural teams in fast-paced environments for all types of businesses.

Why Context Matters and How to Account for It
Andrés' presentation will do the following:
explain translation vs. trans-creation showcase examples of how a brand or organization has implemented this ideology demonstrate firsthand the importance of context (through games, activities, etc.) explain how to implement the power of intepretation cite C+C's work with the City of Seattle and provide updates on their outreach progress

Asami caught the recycling bug during her master's program in Sustainability Management at Columbia University. Since then, she has worked with Columbia University, a business improvement district in New York City, and numerous other businesses across the US to develop and implement waste diversion strategies.

Prior to returning to school, Asami had a 10-year career as an air quality, odor, and noise consultant and worked with a wide range of public- and private-sector clients.
When she's not home baking or cooking, Asami is out camping, hiking, biking, paddling, climbing, snowshoeing, or skiing.
