Day 2, session 4 will hear three experts, Deon Simposon of Dartington Service Design Lab, Peter Babudu of YEF and Tania de St Croix of King's College London, share their views on the importance of evidence in decision-making for early help services.
The panel will discuss two key themes. Firstly they will review the changes to the way we look at evaluation and impact given the changes to delivery methods such as increases in virtual delivery.
They will then discuss how to balance the importance of building a culture of evidence-based decision-making and practice in local services with the needs, experiences and voices of both practitioners and the young people themselves.
The panel will look at:
- The the importance of evidence to realise the full potential of early intervention
- Thinking critically about what constitutes evidence
- Overcoming the challenges in making an evidence-based case for investment in early help including: funding, lack of clear long-term views, accountability, gaps in knowledge, skills and capacity (to generate and use evidence) and the perspectives of children, young people and practitioners
