The necessary and unprecedented levels of economic support needed in response to cushion the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the budget positions in all jurisdictions. For Federal, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg estimated that the underlying cash balance is forecast to decrease from balance in 2018-19 to a $85.8 billion deficit in 2019-20 and a $184.5 billion deficit in 2020-21.
With the tightening of operating expenditures that will most assuredly happen in the 2020-21 budgets coming down from early October on, how will agencies prioritise what gets considered for funding and what doesn't? What of pipeline initiatives that had been planned prior? Is automation the answer to achieving optimisation of scarce resources?
Our panel of senior government thought leaders will discuss the views their respective agencies have in regards to those questions and the approaches they are likely to adopt in the future.
Their thought process behind decisions on funding allocation;
Their sentiments on process automation as both a cost-saving and service improvement tool;
Other cost reduction options being considered into the future.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Intermedium’s Principal Analyst and ex-Senior Executive Service officer, Judy Hurditch, who has had an extensive public sector career at both the Federal and NSW level before founding Intermedium.
Post-event, we will send you the 10 key takeaways from the panel discussion as learnings from this forum.
