I have worked in the early years and primary sector for ten years, ranging from private provision, academies, state schools and the voluntary sector. I have led early years provision from initial set up to expansion.
Conducting Early Years Master’s research at the Institute of Education, UCL, allowed me to gain in depth knowledge of international pedagogical approaches and contemporary issues within the sector.
My work is grounded in the sociocultural influences on children’s meaning making which includes schematic play and re-creating real life experiences through role play and small world scenarios.
I am presently focusing on the value of loose parts play and how this can unfold and extend opportunities for learning through STEAM.
In my current role as TTS Editor I create engaging pedagogical content, present talks on play-based early years pedagogy and visit settings to work on exciting projects. My content reaches an international audience and I collaborate with early years professionals on a global scale.
