Katherine Stievater founded Gap Year Solutions to help students successfully transition to college with a customized plan that builds life skills through "Real World Learning". She was inspired to play a leadership role in the Gap Year community as a result of her experiences with today's teens and her family. Katherine's oldest son spent his junior year of high school at a Spanish language school in Spain, and her second oldest completed a Gap Year before college. Based in the Boston, MA area, she serves on the Board of Advisors and the Standards & Accreditation Committee of the national Gap Year Association. Katherine travels frequently to speak about Gap Years at schools, fairs and conferences, vets Gap Year programs in the U.S. and abroad, and writes regularly about Gap Years including the recent impact of COVID-19.
