John Stumbo

President of the U.S. Alliance

Dr. John Stumbo is serving in his second term as president of the U.S. Christian and Missionary Alliance. He lives with Joanna, his bride of 38 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which is the current location of the home office of The Alliance. John and Joanna have three grown children and five grandchildren. A pastor and ultra-marathon runner, life suddenly changed for John in 2008 when a mysterious illness left him bedridden for 77 days and unable to swallow for over a year. John’s ability to swallow was miraculously healed during this time. This story is chronicled in his book, An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey. John has also authored In the Midst: Treasures from the Dark and God in You: A Conversation. He has just completed his most recent book about the churches of the new Testament: A Stained Beauty: Churches Ancient and Present. He loves being with the Alliance family—from teams on the field, to church leaders and congregations here in the States, to the great staff at the National Office. John finds renewal spending Sabbath days in God’s creation and keeps working toward the day when he can run long distances again.
