Dr David Hill is a co-founder and CTO at Sintela, a UK based company specialising in the
research, development, and manufacture of Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing (DFOS) systems. Since 2005
David has taken a leading role in the development of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and its
introduction across a wide range of applications, including border surveillance and Critical National
Infrastructure intruder detection. He is currently working with partner companies and government
agencies to enable them to fully implement and exploit the capabilities of this technology. David holds a
PhD. from the University of Kent, UK in the field of fiber-optic sensing and has published and lectured
widely on the topic.
