Bio
Maurizio Tira is Full Professor of Town and Regional Planning at the University of Brescia, and Rector of the same university since 2016. He is a member of the Board of the Italian Rectors’ Conference (CRUI), as well as serving as CRUI’s delegate for international relations.
Professor Tira is President of the National Society of Urban Planners and former President of the National Centre for Urban Studies. As member of the European Transport Safety Council, he worked on several EU funded projects as well as in the OECD working groups on pedestrian and cyclist safety.
He is Fellow of both the Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute and the Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of the University of Brescia. Professor Tira has authored approximately 260 publications and been guest speaker at a number of conferences in Italy and internationally.
