Bio
I have an academic background. I worked at the University of Defence of Czech Republic in CBRN area with a specialization in Nuclear Instrumentation for more than 20 years. My Ph.D. study was focused on nuclear instrumentation and analyses of radionuclides using spectroscopy techniques and radiochemical processes. During my work at the university, I become a head of the Radiological Department on CBRN Research Institute.
I led a team of experts, managed scientific projects and handled special instrumentation lectures and trainings for students as well as CBRN specialist of NATO. I worked with international teams and was actively engaged in preparation and performing radiological monitoring missions (IRAQ, SFOR KFOR and ISAF). I obtained valuable experience during my work for special SIRA (Sampling & Identification of Radiological Agents) teams of NATO. I also participated in projects focused on implementation of nuclear instrumentation for special emergency units of civil defence and fire brigades.
I was a leader of R&D projects focused on development and application of nuclear instrumentation in areas of Laboratory Analyses and In-Situ Characterization as well. Some of my specific projects were directed to the areas of Mobile Monitoring Techniques and Airborne Gamma Spectroscopy. By participating in projects based on basic and applied research, I completed my scientific work with a habilitation in 2004.
In 2010 I joined nuclear technology and industry in Canada as a radiation instrumentation expert. I gained additional experience from the team management, R&D and production of nuclear instrumentation for airborne, mobile and in-situ gamma spectroscopy, as well as related electronics. Since 2012, I have become interested in a specific area of radiation monitoring using UAVs. I was the project manager for the development of a commercial multidetector UAV system. I also participated in several foreign projects focused on this area of UAV Radiological Mapping.
I currently work at the IAEA as a Nuclear Instrumentation Specialist of the Nuclear Science and Instrumentation Laboratory (NAPC). Among other activities, I am responsible for the development and management of projects related to mobile monitoring and application in-situ measurement techniques, including the implementation of UAV systems for radiological mapping.
