Søren Johansson is a former Danish decathlete. He was the Danish athletics pentathlon champion in 1994 and the decathlon champion in 1989, 1992, 1994, 1995. Søren was the first Danish person to receive a lifetime ban from sport, after failing doping tests for anabolic steroids on two separate occasions (in 1989 and in 1995). This ban ended Søren’s athletic career and he was unable to remain in sport in any capacity. In 2011, Søren filed a request for a permission to coach and was subsequently allowed to work with junior club teams. He currently coaches track and field and football at a club in Copenhagen, Denmark and has also been working as a mentor with several high performance athletes. Most recently, Søren filed a request to the National Sports Confederation requesting permission to be fully involved as a coach, regardless of age and level of athletes. He is currently awaiting the final decision.
