Mr. Peter (Pete) Jensen, Battalion Chief (ret.) was with the Ventura County Fire Department. Chief Jensen has been in the fire service for over 34 years. He started his career in the Ventura Co. Fire Dept. on the hand crew fighting wildland fires. In 1990 he joined the Point Mugu Fire Dept. as a civilian federal Firefighter and progressed up to the rank of Captain. After almost 9 years with that department, he started over as a rookie firefighter with the Ventura County Fire Dept. and promoted back up through the ranks to Battalion Chief. He previously served as the HazMat Officer for the Ventura County Fire Department and was the coordinator for the Ventura County Regional Hazmat Program. Pete is a certified HazMat Specialist.
chief Jensen has a master's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University, a bachelor's degree in Occupational Studies from CSU Long Beach and an AS degree in Fire Technology from Oxnard College. He is a certified instructor from the California State Fire Marshal, The California Specialized Training Institute, DHS and the National Sheriffs’ Association. Pete has delivered courses to Fire, Law, Health, Military, Local, State and Federal personnel. He has served as the Chair of the Firescope’s Hazmat Specialist Group; is currently the vice chair of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Hazardous Materials Committee; and is a member of the NFPA 470/475 Technical Committee and the DHS SLTT CWMD Working Group, along with other working groups and committees.
