Cultural Resource Manager & Community Preservationist
Bio
Rita Cofield is a native of Los Angeles. She is the youngest of eight siblings and the oldest of four adopted brothers and sisters. She graduated Howard University with a Bachelor in Architecture and Planning. She fell into Stage Managing where she learned that she was destined to foster creative solutions and maintain the integrity of historic buildings, as well as historical information. She recently received her Master of Heritage Conservation from USC and is currently assisting her neighborhood in nominating and preserving its historic resources. She continues to stage manage on occasion, especially if they are based on real stories. She is a member of Actors Equity, a Trustee on the board of the California Preservation Foundation, and is Executive Director of the Friends At Mafundi. She enjoys the outdoors, learning new things, eating new foods, going to new places, and seeing new plays. She responds to the career titles, stage manager/cultural resource manager/conservation architect and public historian/and neighborhood preservationist!
