Bio
Sébastien Piguet is one of the founders of Descartes Underwriting and currently serves as Chief Underwriting Officer and CFO. Prior to launching Descartes, Sébastien held several positions at AXA, including as a Data Scientist at the Data Innovation Lab, and Head of On-Demand Insurance Products & Agriculture at AXA Global Parametrics. Sébastien has a background in economics (Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris School of Economics, Cornell University) and has also spent time as a consultant at the World Bank.
Sébastien is convinced that new technologies have started to deeply change the insurance industry and he co-founded Descartes to be at the forefront of this revolution. When he's not underwriting Nat Cat perils for global corporates, Sébastien enjoys spending time with family & is the proud father of a young daughter.
