Bio
Tom is currently a Senior Lecturer (Midwifery and Specialist Nursing) and doctoral student at the University of the West of Scotland and has been a midwife for 22 years, with most of his clinical career spent within neonatal care. He currently delivers higher education to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in maternal and newborn health and care. Tom holds an Honorary Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner position within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and has undertaken academic and research activity into many aspects of neonatal care, recently as a contributing author to leading midwifery textbooks Physiology in Childbearing (4th Edition) and Myles Midwifery Anatomy and Physiology Workbook (2nd Edition). In addition, Tom is an editorial board member for the British Journal of Midwifery, and an International Science Member for the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) in the USA.
