What if you could garden in the comfort of your own home without compromising time, effort and water? 16-year-old Mimi Nguyen’s YIS innovation could change the way we garden indoors.
Mimi constructed an indoor vertical farming structure capable of fitting a home-built drip irrigation system. It uses a water pump to deliver water throughout the entire system, which drips directly into the root of the plant. This technique saves much more water compared to the traditional spray method, and is also more economical.
Mimi is passionate about science and wants her innovation to help fellow agriculture enthusiasts. With BC’s ever changing weather conditions, she believes her innovation is a practical solution for gardening indoors during harsher months. This competition is a chance for her to share a project she worked hard on and she is excited to see her innovation help other people.
