Clinical Lead for Diabetes within the Yorkshire & Humber Cardiovascular Strategic Clinical Network
Bio
Chris is a graduate of Newcastle upon Tyne medical school. He currently works as a consultant diabetologist based within the Hull University NHS Teachings Hospitals Trust where he provides community diabetes services . He is Clinical Lead for the Yorkshire and Humber Diabetes Clinical Network where he is focused on acheiving more effective dietetic and lifestyle programs across the region for people with Type 2 diabetes , and the role out of technology for peope with Type 1. He served as Chair of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists from May 2011 to May 2014 during which time he helped secure the acquisition of the British Journal of Diabetes and Vascular Disease (now the British Journal of Diabetes) as the official journal of the Association and launched with Patrick Sharp, then Secretary of ABCD the ‘Lost Tribe' campaign highlighting the need to focus on the needs of people with Type 1 diabetes. One of his roles with ABCD was to co-chair with Prof Alan Sinclair, the Diabetes in Care Homes National Audit. He was a member of the writing group for the NHS 2013 document entitled ‘Best practice for commissioning diabetes services-an integrated care
Framework’, and of the team which won the Royal College of Physicians Digital Innovation award in supporting the role out of FreeStyle Libre flash blood glucose monitoring in the NHS.
