Ajit Apte is Vice President of Customer Operations at BGE, where he oversees Contact Center, Large Customer Services, Field & Meter Services, and Customer Claims. A proven leader in the utility industry, Ajit has extensive experience driving operational excellence, customer engagement, and technology innovation.
Previously, he served as BGE’s Vice President of Technical Services, leading asset management, engineering, smart grid initiatives, reliability planning, and major capital projects across electric and gas operations. He also spearheaded customer-focused strategies as Director of Customer Strategy and Governance, launching initiatives such as BGE Marketplace, MDM upgrades, and digital billing solutions that improved customer satisfaction while reducing costs.
Before joining BGE, Ajit held senior IT leadership roles at Exelon Utilities and Constellation, where he led large-scale system implementations and advanced customer care platforms. He began his career in technology consulting with Mastech Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services.
Beyond his corporate role, Ajit serves as Vice Chair of the Creative Alliance board and as a board member of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, supporting community access to the arts, education, and information. He is also Co-Chair of Exelon’s Pan Asian Leadership Council.
Ajit has been recognized with the Professional Achievement Award from the Society of Asian Scientists & Engineers and is a graduate of Howard County Leadership (2019) and The Leadership program of the Greater Baltimore Committee (2022).
