Former Headteacher; National Leader of Education & Educational Consultant
Helen recently retired after fifteen years of being Headteacher of St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary School to pursue other interests. These include educational consultancy, journalism and school improvement projects for the Southwark diocese, including reshaping inspections once schools fully reopen post COVID.
Her career in education has been rich and rewarding with opportunities to teach overseas in Poland and Washington D.C. She has taught in a diverse range of primary schools in inner city London as well as the suburbs which bring their own unique set of challenges and rewards.
After St Mary Magdalen’s was judged an outstanding school in every area in June 2013, Helen became a national leader of education (NLE), and the school a national support school (NSS). As part of the outreach work this entailed, Helen began speaking at national conferences on the subjects of developing a creative curriculum, safeguarding, relationships and sex education (RSE) and narrowing the attainment gap for Pupil Premium Pupils. She also regularly writes educational articles for four national magazines on a range of topics.
