Dr. Wasim Arif

Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology Silchar

Dr. Wasim Arif is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Silchar, with more than 22 years of academic and research experience. His research spans 5G/6G communications, ISAC/IRS and UAV-assisted communication, AI-driven wireless communications and resource allocation, and RF sensing for biomedical applications. He has received research funding from ANRF, MeitY, DST, and DHE, published more than 100 research articles in reputed journals and conferences, authored a book on Cognitive Radio, and guided 08 PhD scholars. A strong advocate of innovation and entrepreneurship, he played a key role in establishing NIT Silchar's startup and incubation ecosystem. He is founder Director of NITS-Foundation for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship, a Section 8 Company at NIT Silchar fostering the NER's digital-technologies I&E ecosystem. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, having served as Vice Chairman and Secretary of the IEEE ComSoc Kolkata Chapter, Secretary of the IEEE TEMS Kolkata Chapter, and Faculty Advisor of the IEEE ComSoc NIT Silchar SBC, alongside institutional roles as Associate Dean (Students’ Welfare) & Faculty (Welfare) and President (Gymkhana).
