Marcus Smith II is a Columbus, GA native who has a unique background as a former NFL athlete, television correspondent, life coach, mental health advocate, husband, father, and author. As a college All-American and former NFL first round draft pick, Marcus understands the dedication and perserverance required to excel in a highly competitive and mentally rigorous environment. His battle with anxiety and depression led to a suicide attempt during his NFL career. This experience propelled him to his purpose of mental health advocacy, especially in the sports arena.
After retiring from football, Marcus founded the Circle of M Inc., a non-profit organization with a mission to end the negative stigma surrounding mental health and raise awareness about anxiety and depression. Through his foundation, Marcus has become a passionate advocate for mental health, sharing his personal story and promoting open conversations about the importance of mental wellness. Through The Circle of M podcast, Marcus provides a platform for guests to share their experiences with mental health and solutions that help them be the best versions of themselves. In addition to his podcast platform, Marcus is a Global Ambassador for All Pointes Notrth Lodge, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the Huntsman Foundation where he continues to push mental health awareness and wellness initiatives to better the community.
