Brian Komar, president of Komar Consulting, has been involved in Microsoft PKI since the beta testing of Windows Server 2003. Brian worked as a contractor on the product team at Microsoft during the development of Windows Server 2003 PKI, authoring several whitepapers on the technology. These include Implementing and Administering Certificate Templates”, “Troubleshooting Certificate Status and Revocation,” and “Planning and Implementing Cross-Certification and Qualified Subordination Using”. In addition to authoring whitepapers, Brian has authored a course on Microsoft PKI (2821, Designing and Managing a Windows Public Key Infrastructure) and has authored two books on Microsoft PKI.
In addition to PKI books, Brian has written several books related to computer security during the past years, including the Microsoft Windows Security Resource Kit, MCSE Training Kit: Designing Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Security, and Firewalls for Dummies.
Brian was a frequent speaker at IT industry conferences such as Microsoft Tech Ed, Windows Connections, and Microsoft IT Forum and was an instructor for the Microsoft Masters Program delivering a one-day training on PKI design and deployment. Brian specialized in sessions that look under the hood at security and discuss practical implementation of security based on experiences from the field.
In his spare time, Brian likes to play golf, hike and bike with his wife Krista, and enjoy the views at his Okanagan and Tucson homes.
