Hallis has been working in the animation industry since 2006. His passion for matching animation to storytelling, and his knack for capturing a style has served him well as a director/supervisor at studios such as Atomic Cartoons, Mercury Filmworks, DHX Media, and Bardel Entertainment.
Most recently, Hallis was the animation director for Netflix's Oddballs, as well as several Rick and Morty television commercials, including: Wendy’s Breakfast and the Pringles commercial for Super Bowl LIV. As animation supervisor, he oversaw the TV series “101 Dalmatian Street” for Walt Disney Studios and “Hilda” for Netflix. Besides animation, he was also involved with research and development for “My Little Pony: The Movie” at DHX Media.
Outside of animation and animation direction, Hallis develops and pitches animated TV series and short films, as well as working on his own comics and comic strips. As an early adopter of Toon Boom’s Harmony software, Hallis has also used his knowledge as an instructor at the Vancouver institute of Media Arts to mentor several generations of top tier animators.
