Amrit Amirapu is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Economics at the University of Kent. He received his PhD in Economics from Boston University, and also has degrees from Amherst College (BA, majoring in Physics and Political Philosophy), and Columbia University (MA, Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences). Amrit has worked as a consultant to the World Bank and the Center for Global Development, and as an adviser to the Indian Ministry of Finance. Amrit's primary research interests lie in the areas of development economics and applied microeconomics. His present research examines the effects of government institutions (especially legal institutions) on firms and households in developing countries
