Mike Miyamoto joined Suntory in 1978, stationed at Yamazaki Distillery. He transferred to the U.S. to run a cooperage business from 1980 to 1985.
He became the Suntory whisky blender from 1987 to 1990 before posting to the London office until 1994. He then became the Director of Morrison Bowmore Distillers in Scotland (owned by Suntory) until 1999.
Mr. Miyamoto returned to Japan in 1999 as Executive General Manager of the Hakushu Distillery until 2002. At that time, he moved back to Scotland as the Deputy Managing Diretor of Morrison Bowmore Distillers until 2004.
He became the Executive General Manager of the Yamazaki Distillery from 2004 to 2010.
Mr. Miyamoto is currently Suntory Whisky’s Global Ambassador in charge of quality communication.
