Carlos Rodriguez is an experienced educator and leader in Physical and Health Education, currently serving as the Curriculum Specialist for Milwaukee Public Schools. With over 15 years of teaching, coaching, and curriculum development experience, Carlos is dedicated to enhancing student wellness, supporting educators, and expanding access to high-quality physical education across the district.
Since stepping into his role in 2022, Carlos has played a critical role in strengthening the district’s Physical and Health Education programs. Under his leadership, the number of Health & PE teachers has grown to 178 educators serving 155 schools and impacting 65,972 students. Through targeted recruitment and retention efforts, MPS has significantly reduced vacancies, from 37.4 openings in 2022-23 to just 6.0 in 2024-25, hiring 45 new teachers while retaining 37 of them. The district has also expanded enhanced wellness programming from 57 schools in 2022 to 88 schools today, increasing access to comprehensive physical education.
