Bio
Renata Koch Alvarenga is from the South of Brazil and currently lives in Rio de Janeiro. She's the Founder and Director of EmpoderaClima, an educational platform for youth about gender equality and climate action, with content available in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French, of the nonprofit Care About Climate. Renata has been a climate and gender justice advocate for the past five years, having presented her work on the Sustainable Development Goals in China, Germany, Bangladesh, Austria, and the United States. She was also involved in education through Model United Nations for eight years through multiple roles, including Secretary-General of the United Ambassadors Model UN in New York City, which brought 500 youth to the UN Headquarters to discuss the Global Goals.
Renata graduated in International Relations from Unisinos, Brazil, and currently works as a Political Analyst at the British Consulate-General in Rio de Janeiro, where she also serves as Chair of the UK Network's Women's Association.
This year, Renata is the Brazil Delegate for the G(irls)20 Global Summit, the only platform for young women to speak directly to G20 Leaders about pressing global issues. She's also co-lead of the Gender Working Group at the Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC, and has represented global youth at COP21 and COP25.
