Bio
Mr Ahmed Hassan Odhowa, a Principal Research Officer, in the Parliamentary Research Services Department (PRS) of Kenya Parliament. He provides leadership, coordinate activities and staff under the Governance and Political affairs division of PRS. He is also the Natural resources policy and legislations sector expert for parliament. His role involves generation, review, analysis and synthesis of facts, information and data necessary for members of parliament to intervene effectively on public policy issues. He has also served in the Senate Liaison office, an office that is tasked to facilitate critical linkage between the Senate and other stakeholders, most notably, in furtherance of the objects of the devolved system of governance which the Senate plays important Constitutional role. The activities under this have included organization and facilitation of capacity building initiatives for the county assembly members and staffers, organization of high levels meetings, inter-governmental events and conferences and liaison with development partners.

Mr. Odhowa, had previously served as the Chief of Staff for the Deputy Speaker in the 10th Parliament, where he coordinated activities and staff in that capacity. He has worked for parliament for over 12 years.

He received his master’s degree in Project Planning and Management. He holds an LLB degree, a Degree in Environment and Community Development. In his current assignment, he has a keen interest in contributing to the legislature’s capacity to enact laws and policies that are relevant to the needs and aspirations of the citizens. His long-term aspiration is to become a governance expert, with bias towards natural resources governance.
