Bijil Subhash is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering under the supervision of Prof. Rose Amal and Dr. Nicholas Bedford at the Particles and Catalysis Research Group (PARTCAT), University of New South Wales (UNSW). He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering with honours at UNSW, during which he gained research experience at UNSW and Australian Defence Industries. His current research interests are on the development of structure-function relationships of nanostructured catalysts using advanced spectroscopic, crystallographic and computational material characterization. Ultimately, his research aims to enable the large-scale electrochemical conversion of renewable energy to fuels and valuable chemicals and vice versa
Bijil has previously participated in Startmate, Australia’s most ambitious startup accelerator. Through Startmate and from the support of UNSW Founders Program, Bijil co-founded switcH2 Engineering, an electrolyzer startup that promotes the use of alternative feedstock (high-grade industrial wastewater) to produce hydrogen. Bijil is strongly passionate about translating research into industry and strongly advocates the use of emerging technologies in solving the grand challenges of the 21st century.
