Mitchell is the Livestock Manager at Good Family Farms, a certified organic, regenerative farm, located in Grey Highlands just south of Georgian Bay. He majored in Environmental Science and Psychology at Wilfred Laurier University. Mitchell is very passionate about local food, community food security and how they relate to our ecosystems. Prior to farming, he played professional hockey in the USA, and worked in both landscaping and the organic fertilizer industry. Since 2015, Mitchell has holistically managed over 1000 acres in which livestock including cattle, pigs, & chickens along with row crops are farmed. Good Family Farms’ land rotation includes corn, beans, wheat, as well as mix grain perennial pastures and cover crops. The farm also hosts a 2-acre vegetable garden and an on-farm store.
