Bernie Kohn is news director at Bloomberg Industry Group, a unit of Bloomberg L.P. which publishes news and reference content for law, tax and accounting, and government professionals. He oversees audience development and platform curation, news automation, enterprise editing, investigative reporting and news data. He has spent most of his four-decade journalism career in business reporting and editing and is a past president of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writers. At the Baltimore Sun, Kohn conceived and co-edited a series on Maryland’s ground-rent system that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2007. Prior to joining Bloomberg News in 2010, Kohn was a reporter and editor at the Sun, the Washington Post, the Tampa Tribune, the Charlotte Observer and the Pittsburgh Press. Kohn has been a Gerald Loeb Awards judge and a speaker at seminars for the American Press Institute and the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism. He is a graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., where is a member of the Journalism Hall of Fame. He lives in Washington, DC.
