Stephanie is a Partner at McInnes Cooper, one of Canada’s 25 largest business law firms. Based in St. John’s, her practice focused exclusively on labour and employment. She has extensive experience in grievance and interest arbitration, human rights, wrongful dismissal and judicial reviews. A significant aspect of Stephanie’s practice involves managing grievances and presenting labour arbitrations for special projects, particularly for employers in the energy and natural resources and construction industries.

Stephanie provides advice to employers on the full spectrum of labour and employment matters, from collective agreement interpretation, labour relations, employee discipline, employment contracts and human rights issues, specifically relating to workplace accommodation. She has also been involved in providing labour and employment related seminars to a wide array of employers. In 2019, she was named as a Lexpert® Rising Star, celebrating Canada’s leading lawyers under 40. She has also been ranked by the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the area of Labour (Management) and by Best Lawyers™ in Canada in the area of labour and employment law.

Stephanie received the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for highest overall standing in her graduating law class and was also the recipient of the Hunt Award for the highest overall standing in the bar course.

Stephanie is a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Canadian Bar Association, for which she is the past chair of the labour and employment section for the provincial branch. She is also a current member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (“NLOWE”) and the firm’s Promotion of Women Committee. Outside of the office, Stephanie keeps active with her two very busy young sons.
