Dr Mike Weinbren is a consultant medical microbiologist with Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Last year, he gave a talk at the BD-hosted Sepsis conference, and at the Infection Prevention Society, on his UK-wide survey. While working with Public Health England (PHE) he conducted the first UK wide survey of blood culture practice – some of these results will be highlighted at the webinar. This highlighted wide deficiencies in blood culture pathways and the likely impact on patient management. Dr Weinbren has been working as a consultant microbiologist since 1990.
