Samuel Ng is the Head of Cybersecurity at WeLab Bank – Hong Kong’s homegrown virtual bank licensed by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. WeLab Bank is founded by a team of financial and technology experts, with a mission to understand customers’ needs and design a personalized, full-service banking experience that empowers them manage and grow their money. WeLab Bank is a member of WeLab, a leading fintech company in Asia, which provides financial services by creating seamless digital experiences to over 46 million individual customers and over 600 enterprise customers, across Hong Kong, Mainland China and Indonesia.
Samuel leads WeLab Bank’s cybersecurity function. He is responsible for planning and implementing the overall security strategy on all information systems and networks to safeguard the Bank. He has been leading the team to establish network security policies and procedures and to run periodical risk assessments.
Prior to joining WeLab Bank, Samuel served as cybersecurity expert for Royal Malaysian Army for more than 14 years and had since held various positions including penetration tester, cyber incident responder and IT security auditor. He also holds multiple industry recognised certifications including CREST, Offensive Security and ISC (2). Samuel has a master’s degree in Information Assurance from the National Technology University of Malaysia and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National Defence University of Malaysia.
