Dr. Özcan Başaran is an Associate Professor of Cardiology in the Cardiology Department of Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Faculty of Medicine. He is also working in Mugla Education and Research Hospital as a clinical cardiologist.
He has published 86 publications in peer reviewed journals. His research focused on prevention of cardiovascular disease, atrial fibrillation and anticoagulant treatment, atherosclerosis and risk factors. He has served as a reviewer in peer review journals, Anatolian Journal of Cardiology, Archieves of Turkish Society of Cardiology, Current Medical Research and Opinion, Medicine.
He completed medical school at Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine in 2006 and Cardiology Residency program in Kartal Kosuyolu Education and Research Hospital in 2012. Then he became associate professor of cardiology in 2017.
He has served as a board member of the Lipid Working Group of the Turkish Society of Cardiology between 2018 and 2021, and currently working as a board member of the Preventive Cardiology and Atherosclerosis Working Group of the Turkish Society of Cardiology. He has been appointed as the European Association of Preventive Cardiology Young Ambassador of Turkey in 2019.
