Catherine G. White is a Massachusetts native whose father was a tax accountant. She does not remember not knowing how to keep a double-entry ledger. Her first paid job was swapping out the CCH Master Tax Guide update pages for her father’s company.

The practical experience from home allowed her to put herself through college working as a bookkeeper in a plethora of industries, from TV to medical services to construction to retail and more. She is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After a number of years as an engineer, she went back to keeping books and has had her own accounting and tax business since 1997. In 2003 she took the then 4-part Special Enrollment Exam and passed all sections that year. Her experience has led colleagues from several states to consult with her regularly on challenging tax issues including multi-year situations.

She taught for the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents over a number of years, both at monthly meetings and at their two-day annual update courses in January of each year, as well as for other groups. Her goal is to help fellow tax professionals acquire the tools and approaches to
tackle the real-life problems that walk through our office doors and can leave us flummoxed, flustered, and floundering.
