David is the city’s Public Works Director and comes to Gunnison after a distinguished career in Mississippi. He began his career in Mississippi, where he rose to be City Engineer of the City of Natchez, MS, Superintendent of the Natchez Water Works, and a Project/Resident Engineer for the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the States of Colorado, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
He is a graduate of Mississippi State University with BS in Civil Engineering. He has decades of experience in energy, transportation, water management, and public works. Throughout his career he has been a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Watershed Coalition, the American Waterworks Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation.
David is a resident of Gunnison, Colorado and is married to Tammi Gardner, an employee of the Gunnison School District. He and his wife are the proud parents of four daughters. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and traveling.
