Prof. Richard Wakeford

Richard WAKEFORD worked for British Nuclear Fuels plc for almost 30 years before taking early retirement in 2006, much of the time working on low-level radiation risks. He then became Professor in Epidemiology at The University of Manchester, before retiring at the end of 2019, but he continues to research and lecture and is now an Honorary Professor at the University. Richard is a member of Committee 1 of ICRP and the UK delegation to UNSCEAR, and is, or has been, a member of a number of other expert groups, including during 2005-2015 a member of the European Union Article 31 Expert Group and during 2008-2017 a member of the UK Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment (COMARE). He has been Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Radiological Protection since 1997, and is a member of several other editorial boards.
