Ray Breed is a lecturer of Health and Physical Education at Federation University in Melbourne. He has been presenting and consulting to schools and sports teams in skill acquisition, coaching and teaching games for 25 years. His 2021 book (along with co-author Michael Spittle) titled “Developing Game Sense in Physical Education and Sport” (Human Kinetics, US), has been widely used in schools and tertiary curriculum to help teachers develop game sense. He has written two books in game sense approaches, and has published and supervised research in this area, including a recent systematic review confirming the many benefits of using a game-based approach over a traditional approach for learning. He has previously been a head of HPE at two large schools in Melbourne and coached several sports (in particular Australian football) from junior to senior elite level.
