Chris is a PhD researcher with the UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation at the University of East Anglia and is incoming chair of the British Association for Literacy in Development (BALID). He researches participation of ‘marginalised’ communities, for instance, through volunteering and social activism, (particularly in Global South contexts) and how such processes cultivate and/or confine members' learning. He holds an MA in Lifelong Learning Policy and Management from London's Institute of Education.
