Science and Technology Advisor for Tyndall AFB Reconstruction
Bio
Mr. Lance Marrano is one of the Army’s Senior Scientific Technical Managers (SSTMs), senior research professionals recognized for their impact and unique combination of technical and programmatic management responsibilities. He pioneered, developed, and helped DoD adopt cutting edge techniques to assess and forecast facility investment requirements, ultimately influencing an annual budget more than several billion dollars. Mr. Marrano previously spearheaded the Army’s Installation of the Future research and evaluation program, seeking to find innovations from smart cities and apply them in a defense setting. The devastation and subsequent reconstruction of Tyndall as the Air Force’s Installation of the Future is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to envision “the base we need, not the base we have” and Mr. Marrano’s position is a partnership between the Army and Air Force to collaborate and share innovations and best practices. For the past three years, he has served as the Science and Technology Advisor for Installation of the Future to the Tyndall Reconstruction Program, where he has helped guide Digital Twins, facility controls cybersecurity, and several other innovations for Tyndall to be the first 21st century installation AND share these innovations amongst the Services.
