Ian E. Floyd is a Principal Investigator at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) located at the Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, MS. His research areas of interest include computational fluid dynamics, sediment transport mechanics, non-Newtonian numerical modeling, and geomorphology. He serves as the technical lead for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) post-wildfire flood risk management research and development program. Before joining the ERDC in 2009, he received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Geology from The University of Southern Mississippi, and will receive his PhD in Engineering Science in May 2021 from Louisiana State University’s College of Engineering. In addition, prior to joining ERDC he served over 10 years, first enlisting and serving in the U.S. Army, and then the U.S. Air Force as a non-Commissioned Officer.
