Bio
Dr. Patrick Barnard is a Research Geologist with UC Santa Cruz Center for Coastal Climate Resilience. His research focuses on coastal hazards driven by storms and sea level rise across U.S. beaches and estuaries. Patrick serves on numerous regional, national, and international scientific review panels related to climate change and coastal hazards, and has advised members of the U.S. Congress and Cabinet, as well as state and local government representatives. He served as a Co-author on the Coastal Effects Chapter of the 5th National Climate Assessment, Co-Chair of the Inter-agency Working Group on Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flood Hazard Scenarios and Tools to update Federal Sea level rise guidance, and Co-Chair of the California Ocean Science Trust Scientific Task Force to update California’s sea level rise technical guidance.
