Bio
Didier Franck is the Deputy Head of the Research Dosimetry Department at the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Institute Radiation Metrology Section and of the Dosimetry Group (IRSN), France. He is also Co-Director of the doctoral School of Nuclear Physic at Paris Saclay University (UPS).
He obtained his PhD at the University Paris Saclay (France) in 1986. After a 2 year postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University (USA), he joined IRSN in 1993 (formerly called IPSN).
At IRSN he led an expertise and research laboratory in the area of internal dosimetry and in vivo monitoring until 2017. Research projects included the development of new methods for in vivo monitoring based on Monte Carlo calculation but also medical applications in nuclear medicine, including alpha therapy and micro dosimetry, as well as the development of news tools for the crisis management of internal contamination. As expert he participated to numerous national and international projects such as the development of national network of in vivo laboratories and the organization National Intercomparison in vivo monitoring exercises as well as the development of the Technical Recommendations for Monitoring Individuals for occupational Intakes of Radionuclides (TECHREC) founded in 1916 by EC.
He is also a member of the Working group “internal dosimetry” (WG7) of the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (Eurados) as well as member of the groups WG13 (internal dosimetry) and convenor of the WG25 group (Population Monitoring Following Radiological Accidents) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
