David Fenton is manager of Radiation Protection Regulation unit with the Environmental Protection Agency of Ireland, a post he has held for over 2 years. David is a Senior Inspector and leads the team that issues and enforces authorisations governing practices in Ireland using X-ray or radioactive substances. This includes radioactive waste. Having started his career as an inspector he moved to radon and natural radioactivity where helped steer the development of the Ireland’s National Radon Control Strategy. He also led the EPA’s remit on Electromagnetic Fields and steered the development of the EPA’s EMF monitoring programme. David has represented Ireland in many international fora. His background is in Medical Physics and he has over 35 years experience in the field of radiation and radiation protection and is now back as a Regulator where his career started.
